In a previous post I suggested brilliance comes from what you do. This doesn’t mean your actions have to be heroic or earth-shattering. Sometimes simple deeds make all the difference.
One of my wife’s favorite stores is Anthropologie. I went to Anthropologie during the Christmas season to get her a gift card and this is what I received–
The teeth of this little creature are actually the edge of a gift tag behind which was placed the gift card. The creature came in a white box completely bare on the outside but containing the logo of Anthropologie on the inside lid.
Although gift cards provide their recipients with freedom to buy whatever they want (to the amount of the card), the cards themselves are not particularly impressive. With the little creature in a box, however, Anthropologie added whimsy as well as discovery and surprise to the notion of a gift card.
Once the gift card is used and disposed of, the creature remains as a souvenir of both receiving the gift card and purchasing something with it.
Clever, subtle and very brilliant.
